Then the Rain Came: DVSS Hunter Training Camp 2018

The weather was lovely as a group of over forty students, staff and volunteers from DVSS headed west into the forested foothills near Caroline Alberta for a three day hunter training camp.  Excitement and enthusiasm fueled the early efforts of students who eagerly built their own shelters in the warm June sun. Not much later, a summer hail storm gave focus to our skill at staying warm and dry.  Over the course of our time at the Alford Lake Hunter Training Facility our students experienced:

The 3D archery range

The small bore rifle range

The full bore rifle range

The trap range

The orienteering course

Survival fire building

Wildlife identification games

And a series of delightful meals prepared over open fires

We would like to thank the many parent and community volunteers which made the event successful, and possible.  Our volunteers were strong and supportive, and our school community can be proud of the people who took part in this year’s camp.
