Impact Day

On May 9th, our grade nine students participated in their first ever Impact Day. Formerly known as the P.A.R.T.Y Program (Preventing Risk Related Trauma in Youth), this program includes a mock accident and a real life demonstration of an ER trauma bay interaction.

Spectacular acting skills were demonstrated by DVSS grade 11 and 12 students. The mock accident included one on site 'fatality'. Students were witness to an extraction when the jaws life were used to move the situation forward in real time.  Unfortunately the team of medical professionals were unable to 'save' the life of one severely injured individual.

The recreation of trauma bay events was eloquently executed by a team led by Dr.Ram, EMT's, Paramedics, and a veteran emergency room nurse.

By days end our students had new knowledge that will remain with them for a lifetime.
